Fourth graders take their times tables and put them to work on bigger numbers. These free games practice multiplication and division facts up to 12, then walk through multi-digit multiplication with place-value boxes, long division one step at a time, equivalent fractions and multi-step story problems.
🎪 Eight more ways to practice the same facts: Vine Swing, Ice Cream Tower, Present Surprise, Ski Lift, Penalty Kicks, Sing-Along, Planet Hop and Crown Jewels.
What kids practice
Multiplication and division facts up to 12 × 12
Multiplying 2- and 3-digit numbers by a 1-digit number
Long division with 1-digit divisors
Equivalent fractions like ½ = 2/4 = 4/8
Adding and subtracting 4-digit numbers and multi-step word problems
Try one together: 84 ÷ 3 with long division
Divide: 8 ÷ 3 = 2. Write 2 above the 8.
Multiply and subtract: 2 × 3 = 6, and 8 − 6 = 2.
Bring down the 4 to make 24.
24 ÷ 3 = 8. So 84 ÷ 3 = 28. Check: 28 × 3 = 84 ✓
Tips for parents and teachers
Shaky times tables make long division feel hard. Warm up with two minutes of a quick-fact game first.
Always check a division answer by multiplying back.
Estimate before solving: 84 ÷ 3 should be a bit less than 90 ÷ 3 = 30.
Matching school standards
These games line up with these Common Core State Standards for Mathematics:
4.NBT.B.5 Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit number, and two two-digit numbers.
4.NBT.B.6 Find quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors.
4.NF.A.1 Explain why fractions are equivalent, using visual models.
4.NBT.B.4 Fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers.
Questions parents ask
Is long division taught in 4th grade?
Yes. Fourth graders usually divide numbers up to four digits by a one-digit number, often with models first and the standard steps later. Banana Split walks through each step.
Do 4th graders need to know times tables to 12?
Standards require facts through 10 × 10, but many schools and parents practice through 12. The quick-fact games here go up to 12 × 12 in 4th grade.
